WELCOME TO WE ARE WALUKUBA
We are Walukuba’ is an intergenerational community based organisation of women and men of all ages who have been working together since February 2015. We aim to use creative arts to promote sustainable development and environmental conservation in our local community and beyond. Our group meets to share ideas, identify key social and environmental concerns, and use creative arts to generate ground-up and sustainable interventions through local action designed to achieve the global Sustainable Development Goals. We operate using research, inclusive discussion and knowledge exchange, and aim to develop local multi-stakeholder partnerships. We draw on a variety of art forms including image theatre, poetry, music, dance and drama, to communicate and discuss key issues we identify at the local and national levels to a variety of stake-holders. Our group operates on a principle of inclusivity with a revolving management structure to ensure those of both genders and all ages have the opportunity to work as equal partners.
The mission of ‘We are Walukuba’ is to work together across both gender and age to promote local action towards sustainable development and environmental conservation in our local community and beyond.
The vision of ‘We are Walukuba’ is to fight inequality and achieve sustainable development from the ground-up as we demonstrate the importance of inclusive and equal partnership of both genders and all age-groups working together.
